I've literally ridden around the world to include Germany, Korea, and the east and west coasts of my beloved USA. The small sticky knobs provide a smooth roll in those rare bump free zones and grab aggresively everywhere else. I have a 91 GT Avalanche and had previously had slicks on it for commuting. I was invited to do the Fullerton Loop which was mostly trails and pretty fast downhills. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ for such an old bike so i went to my LBS and asked if they had any used Offroad tires i could buy. The funny thing is, i only planned to run these things once. My LBS offered these Kenda SMall Block 8's for $10 a piece used. For $20 i didn't think too much on the tires and expected them to be mediocre. I have run these tires 3 times on the same trail. These tires worked awesome! It was perfect on dry clay, and actually didn't push on the turns! Climbing up the hills was no problem either. WHat even amazed me more is that they felt pretty close to my street tires..very quite and also handled well on pavement. I have a new bike on layway..a Trek DS 8.4 and guess what? I will have these in a 700 size for my new bike as well. AWESOME TIRE!!! |
